The tribal glitches of Larry Gus’ 2012 full-length Silent Congas find new life in this pair of remixes, from Hana and Hello Skinny. Gus’ peculiar aural language and sampladelia makes for pleasantly askew structures, with “Figueroa Islands” leaving gaps of space percolating expectantly over the two-note synth foundation and vocals delayed into gobbledygook. Hello Skinny tosses in squalls of chuckling over the tubular propulsion, with belching fuzz leaving plenty of dust on the staircases of baroque scales.
